At a reception marking Algeria’s National Day in Islamabad, officials from both countries called for renewed potential in bilateral trade and industrial cooperation, building on decades of friendly ties that date back to Algeria’s independence struggle.

Algeria’s Ambassador, Brahim Romani, praised Pakistan’s early support for Algeria’s freedom struggle and highlighted his country’s rapid economic growth. He said Algeria is growing fast, with rising investments, new industries, and major energy exports to Europe. “Algeria today is an energy powerhouse and a gateway for trade in Africa,” he said, inviting Pakistani investors to take advantage of the country’s new, more open investment laws.

Pakistan’s Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries, Haroon Akhtar Khan, who was the chief guest at the event, said both countries’ natural wealth and skilled human capital could form the basis of a productive partnership. “Together, we can create new opportunities for shared prosperity,” he said, encouraging Algerian firms to invest in Pakistan’s industrial and manufacturing sectors.

The event took place at a time when many countries in the Global South are seeking closer economic cooperation. In recent years, Algeria and Pakistan have organized two business forums in Algiers and issued hundreds of business visas to promote trade and investment between the two nations.

Experts believe that energy, mining, agriculture, and technology are some areas for both countries to work together. Algeria’s strong position as a major gas supplier and Pakistan’s growing manufacturing sector could help build a solid partnership in the future.

As the event concluded with expressions of goodwill and friendship, the atmosphere underscored both countries’ commitment to strengthening their longstanding ties through practical economic cooperation.
